Tour Overview

This 10-day expedition takes you deep into the spectacular Skardu Valley, gateway to the Karakoram. Highlights include the turquoise waters of Kachura Lakes, the surreal landscapes of the Katpana Desert, and the breathtaking Deosai National Park.

The journey also explores the cultural gems of Shigar and Khaplu, where ancient forts and Balti hospitality create lasting memories. Combined with optional cultural sightseeing in Islamabad, this itinerary balances nature, history, and adventure.

Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad (540 m)
Arrival at Islamabad International Airport. Transfer to hotel and evening briefing.

Day 2: Islamabad to Skardu (2,228 m) – 1 hr flight
Scenic flight to Skardu with views of Nanga Parbat and the Karakoram. Free time for Skardu Bazaar and Kharpocho Fort. Overnight in Skardu. (Road option available if flight cancels.)

Day 3: Skardu Sightseeing – Upper & Lower Kachura Lakes (2,500 m)
Visit Lower Kachura Lake (Shangrila Lake) and Upper Kachura Lake. Evening at Katpana Desert, the world’s highest cold desert.

Day 4: Excursion to Deosai National Park (4,114 m)
Full-day jeep excursion to Deosai Plains, known as the “Land of Giants”. Visit Sheosar Lake and enjoy vast high-altitude meadows. Return to Skardu for overnight.

Day 5: Shigar Valley (2,230 m)
Day trip to Shigar Valley, visiting Shigar Fort, Blind Lake, and surrounding villages. Overnight in Skardu.

Day 6: Khaplu Valley (2,600 m)
Drive to Khaplu Valley, the easternmost part of Baltistan. Explore Khaplu Fort, Chaqchan Mosque, and Saling village. Overnight in Skardu.

Day 7: Manthokha Waterfall & Local Villages
Visit the impressive Manthokha Waterfall and nearby villages for cultural encounters. Return to Skardu.

Day 8: Free Day in Skardu (2,228 m)
Leisure day for rest or optional excursions (Sadpara Lake, trekking, or shopping in Skardu Bazaar).

Day 9: Skardu to Islamabad – flight or road
Morning flight back to Islamabad. (If flight cancels, drive along Karakoram Highway.) Overnight in Islamabad.

Day 10: Islamabad – Cultural Tour & Departure
Optional city tour of Faisal Mosque, Lok Virsa Museum, Pakistan Monument, and Rawalpindi Bazaar. Evening transfer to airport for onward flight.
